Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Revelation 21:15 (25 July 2008): “He that talked with me,” is, “that which communicated with Yehuveh’s anointed instructors.” Regarding the anointed instructors, see notes on Revelation 1:1. “Had a golden reed to measure the city,” that is, this communication “presented Yehuveh’s instructional measuring standard of by which to instruct His people.” Measuring requires sound judgment (see Revelation 11:1), and sound judgment is simply righteous instruction applied (Revelation 11:18). In Scripture, only one standard of measurement is provided: “to the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Once again Yehuveh’s people will be taught all wisdom and truth, their rightful heritage from creation. Reed and measure are discussed in extensive detail in notes on Revelation 11:1; golden, symbol of Yehuveh’s word, is discussed by Revelation 2:1; city, by Revelation 11:8, 13. Isaiah 8:20. “The gates thereof,” speaks of the entrances or portals through which Yehuveh’s people receive enlightenment. In notes on Revelation 21:12, these gates are shown to be the twelve astronomical signs of Zadok (rightness) and their associated twelve tribes of Israel, with all the wisdom presented by both. Each tribe, with its unique aspect of instruction, brings humanity enlightenment needed to restore harmony with Yehuveh. The human-experiences of these “portals of enlightenment” are “the testimony” of Yehuveh’s measuring reed. “The wall thereof,” are the firm structure of commandments, statutes, and sound judgments which define order for Yehuveh’s people’s lives, bringing them peace and prosperity. This organized system of established boundaries are “the law” of Yehuveh’s golden measuring reed.
