Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Revelation 21:14 continued (20 July 2008): “The wall of the city had twelve foundations,” that is, twelve fundamental principles on which all the rest of the moral code is established. Torah presents these twelve commandments or foundation structures in Exodus 20:3-17 and Deuteronomy 5:7-21. Explanation and Scriptural foundation of the sixth: Structure #6: “Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehuveh thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days Yehuveh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehuveh blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:9-11; Deuteronomy 5:13-15. Corresponding Quality from Qabbalah, the Tree of Life: sound judgment Companion Statutes and Right-Rulings (judgments) which raise a protective wall on this foundation. Corresponding Foundation Stone, Tribe, and Sign of Zadok Significance: It is as much a command to work the “six working days” as it is a command to rest on Yehuveh’s Sabbaths! This is so very important that Yehuveh emphasizes it six times: “It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Yehuveh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.” “Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.” “Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work.” “Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.” “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of Yehuveh in all your dwellings.” “Thus saith Yehuveh Elohim; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.” Ezekiel 46:1; Exodus 31:17; 16:26; 20:9; 34:21; Leviticus 23:3; Ezekiel 46:1. First, it was not Yehuveh’s plan that men work for other men in the manner of present “enslaving” employment, so the current system is built on a false foundation. But secondly, under Yehuveh’s plan we are to work six days, not five. The present enslaving system cannot take more than five days from us and retain an effective working force, for we need at least one day to do the home-survival work, whether it be house maintenance and yard upkeep, or laundry and housekeeping. In Yehuveh’s perfect balance, we would work diligently but temperately on all six working days, but we would be directing our own lives and accomplishing our own purposes, then we would relax and enjoy the awesome seventh day with Yehuveh Himself. Note the responsibility Yehuveh places on fathers to not only work the “six working days” and then to guard His Sabbaths, but to instruct and implement these boundaries for every person and animal under his leadership. Good work ethics are taught by example more than by instruction, and regardless of the income level, every father owes it to each son and daughter to teach them balanced work and rest patterns. Wall built on this foundation: Exodus 16:26; 20:9-11; 23:12; 31:15-17; 34:21; Leviticus 23:3; Ezekiel 46:1-3. Wall “daubed with untempered mortar” on this foundation: Many of the labor laws and labor union demands violate this structure.
