Revelation 21:14-04

Re-evaluation Translation:
(Repeating) 21:14 The protective structure around Yehuveh’s people is based on twelve foundation principles, defined as the twelve core structures of the Lamb-king.
Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 21:14 continued (20 July 2008): “The wall of the city had twelve foundations,” that is, twelve fundamental principles on which all the rest of the moral code is established. Torah presents these twelve commandments or foundation structures in Exodus 20:3-17 and Deuteronomy 5:7-21.
Explanation and Scriptural foundation of the fourth:
Structure #4: “Thou shalt not take the name of Yehuveh thy Elohim in vain; for Yehuveh will not
hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” Exodus 20:7; Deuteronomy 5:11.

Significance: This boundary of our behavior far exceeds the speaking of a few “curse” words.
Psalms 50:14-23 makes it quite clear that speaking any of Yehuveh’s words while choosing
not to live them is speaking “in vain.” “Offer unto Elohim thanksgiving; and pay thy vows
unto the most High: and call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt
glorify Me. But unto the wicked Elohim saith, What hast thou to do to declare My statutes, or
that thou shouldest take My covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and
castest My words behind thee. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him,
and hast been partaker with adulterers. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth
deceit. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an
one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider
this, ye that forget Elohim, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso
offereth praise glorifieth Me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the
salvation of Elohim.”
Taking “the name of Yehuveh . . . in vain” is claiming to serve Him or to trust Him, or
claiming any blessing from Him, while not living by His direction. “Except Yehuveh build the
house, they labour in vain that build it: except Yehuveh keep the city, the watchman waketh
but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He
giveth His beloved sleep.” This far exceeds speaking a few inappropriate words. Psalms 127:1-2.
Indeed, Scripture has very, very much to say about vanity. “The getting of treasures by a lying
tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.” “He that soweth iniquity shall reap
vanity.” The ancient prayer in Proverbs is well worth praying: “Two things have I required of
Thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither
poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny Thee, and
say, Who is Yehuveh? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my Elohim in vain.”
Indeed Solomon came to realize that without a right relationship with Yehuveh, “vanity of
vanities; all is vanity.” Proverbs 21:6; 22:8; 30:7-9; Ecclesiastes 1:2.
Wall built on this foundation: Exodus 20:7; Leviticus 19:12; 24:11-16; Deuteronomy 6:13;
Psalms 50:14-16; 139:20; Proverbs 30:9; Jeremiah 4:2.
Wall “daubed with untempered mortar” on this foundation: Claiming to serve Yehuveh, our
claim is vain if we are not living His ways!
