Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 21:1 (17 July 2008):  “I saw a new heaven and a new earth,” is, “Yehuveh’s anointed instructors saw a renewed people under Yehuveh’s protection and those who had been non-committed had also become a renewed people. Enoch described this scene as glorious!  New, from kainos [G2537, of uncertain affinity], meaning “new, renewed, recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn; of a new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of,” is used nine times in Revelation [2:17; 3:12 (twice); 5:9; 14:3; 21:1 (twice), 2, 5]. Heaven comprised of people decidedly under Yehuveh’s protection is discussed by Revelation 4:1; earth, representing those who had yet to make a commitment to Yehuveh is discussed in notes on Revelation 5:13. Revelation 20:11 stated that “all un-commitment and ignorance vanished for ever,” making it clear that this renewed earth is comprised of instructed people who have willingly made a full commitment to Yehuveh! That’s a NEW earth in the highest sense!

Revelation 1:13-16 gloriously previewed this restoration of righteousness on earth by focusing on the restoration of Israel in the symbol of a glorious house. Quoting notes from there foundations the picture here: “Restored Israel is indeed glorious in its wisdom, devotion, compassion and praise of Yehuveh. Enoch describes Israel’s first ‘house’ and compares this restored ‘house’ in powerful language: ‘I went into the tongues of fire and drew nigh to a large house [ancient Israel] which was built of crystals [innocence: see Job 28:17, where crystal comes from H2137/2135: zekuwkiyth/zakah, “to be translucent; to be innocent”]: and the walls of the house were like a tessellated floor made of crystals, and its groundwork was of crystal. Its ceiling was [knowledge of astronomy/astrology] like the path of the stars and the lightnings, and between them were fiery cherubim [planets interacting with constellations—Yehuveh’s messengers], and their heaven was clear as water. A flaming fire [intense conviction] surrounded the walls, and its portals blazed with fire. . . .

“‘And lo! there was a second house [restored Israel], greater than the former, and the entire portal stood open before me, and it was built of flames of fire [consecration]. And in every respect it [restored Israel] so excelled in spendour and magnificence and extent that I cannot describe to you its splendour and its extent. And its floor was of fire, and above it were lightnings and the path of the stars, and its ceiling also was flaming fire. And I looked and saw therein a lofty throne: its appearance was as crystal, and the wheels thereof as the shining sun . . . so that I could not look thereon.’” Enoch 14:10-19.
        The glory of
“a new heaven and a new earth,” is that it far exceeds this second house as it includes not only restored Israel but also all the kingdoms of the earth who have joined Israel under the guidance and wise instruction of Yehuveh and His Lamb-king

“For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away,” is clearly a parallel to Enoch’s statement. “The first heaven and the first earth,” like the first house of Israel, refer back to the understanding of both committed and un-instructed people from ancient times. With the awesome wisdom and profound instruction restored to humanity under the Lamb-king’s leadership, the “new heaven and . . . earth,” so far surpass anything humanity has had before as to utterly eclipse it. Passed away, from parerchomai [G3928], “to go past; perish; to pass by/over, to neglect, omit, transgress; to be led by, to be carried past, be averted; to come near, come forward, arrive,” is used only here in Revelation.

“There was no more sea,” in Greek reads “sea not was still/more.” From its symbolism, this clearly states that not one person remains ignorant of Yehuveh and His ways. Study sea in notes on Revelation 5:13.
