Revelation 20:4a
Revelation 20, Page 7

Bible, KJV Translation
20:4  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Re-evaluation Translation
20:4  Yehuveh’s anointed instructors saw leaders raised up to be kings, priests, and judges, with sound judgment: and they came to life through the instruction of His witnesses and His word, and refused to worship selfish values, in any form, or identify with it in thought or action; and they lived and exerted tremendous influence along with Yehuveh’s anointed throughout this thousand days.

Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 20:4 (12 July 2008):  “I saw thrones, and they sat upon them,” that is, during this thousand days while the global powers are restrained, Yehuveh’s anointed instructors watch the settling-into-truth-so-they-cannot-be-moved of responsible people to fill the leadership positions of Yehuveh’s coming government. These instructors participated with Yehuveh in the development and establishment [settlement] of men and women to fill kingly and judicial positions. All the leaders have been chosen and prepared during this thousand days: “I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.” “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.” “Thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear Elohim, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: And let them judge the people at all seasons.” “He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of Elohim.” Throne is discussed by Revelation 4:2. Jeremiah 33:7; Isaiah 32:1; Exodus 18:21-22 [also Deuteronomy 1:15-17]; 2 Samuel 23:3.

Sat is from kathizo [2523], meaning “to make to sit down; to set, appoint, to confer a kingdom on one; to have fixed one’s abode, to sojourn, to abide, to settle, settle down.” Kathizo is used only three times in Revelation, here in reference to Yehuveh settling/establishing His leaders in their convictions of truth before restoring them to their homeland again, and twice in Revelation 3:21 in the phrase “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit [settle, be established] with Me in My throne [position of righteous leadership], even as I also overcame, and am set down [settled, established] with my Father in His throne [position of righteous leadership].”

“Judgment was given unto them,” is a refreshing promise in the face of the present injustice and corrupt ill-legal system. “I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.” “Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which Yehuveh thy Elohim giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift. . . . That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which Yehuveh thy Elohim giveth thee.” This promise of restored justice and righteous judgment is implicit in Enoch’s statement that “A great sword was given to the sheep [gentle righteous followers of Yehuveh], and the sheep proceeded [brought judgment] against all the beasts [self-serving persons and governments] of the field to slay them, and all the beasts and the birds of the heaven fled before their faces.” Judgment is discussed by Revelation 18:20. Isaiah 1:26; Deuteronomy 16:18-20; Enoch XC:19.
