18:21  And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Re-evaluation Translation
18:20  Rejoice over this destruction, Yehuveh’s people, and you anointed instructors and teachers; for Elohim has avenged you on this corrupt system.
18:21  And a mighty message cast a solidifying which brought hardening to the uneducated, saying, Thus with violence will that great confusion be destroyed, and it will never ever exist again.

Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 18:20 (4 July 2008):  “Rejoice over her,” make merry, get truly joyful. When this corrupt economic system comes down, for the first time in our lifetime we will have opportunity to establish true prosperity Yehuveh’s way. To have this exploitive oppression behind us will truly be cause of joy. Study rejoice in notes on Revelation 11:10

“Thou heaven,” that is, Yehuveh’s people, as discussed in Revelation 4:1.

“Ye holy apostles and prophets,” the anointed instructors and spokesmen, along with the whole group of restored people, rejoice. Holy is discussed in notes on Revelation 3:7 and 4:8; apostles is discussed in notes on Revelation 2:2; prophets is discussed in notes on Revelation 11:10.

“For Elohim hath avenged you on her.” Yehuveh has Himself reversed the financial and social standing of His people. “It shall come to pass in that day, saith Yehuveh of hosts, that I will break his [the oppressors’] yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: but they shall serve Yehuveh their Elohim.” Avenge, here, is simply that Yehuveh has executed judgment on in the favor of His people. Avenge, from krima [G2917] is essentially the same as krino [G2919: judgment], which is discussed in notes on Revelation 6:10; 11:18. Jeremiah 30:8-9.

Commentary on Revelation 18:21 (4 July 2008):  “A mighty angel took up a stone,” that is, “a powerful message established solidity.” Regarding angel, see Revelation 1:1. Took up is lifted up, as discussed in notes on Revelation 10:5. Stone, symbol of solidity, is discussed in notes on Revelation 17:4.

“Like a great millstone,” should read “like a great hardening.” Millstone, from mulos [G3458, from molis, G3433, “difficulty, hard, hardly”], is used only in Revelation 18:21 and 18:22. With this root, mulos more rightly indicates hardening than milling. This message solidifies uncommitted humanity’s choices, hardening their hearts in the direction of their choices.

“Cast it into the sea.” See cast below; sea, see notes on Revelation 6:15.

“Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down,” is an awesome statement! The collapse of the global socio-economic system will not be quiet and unnoticed. Yehuveh will make certain the entire world witnesses the sudden and very rapid collapse of the World Trade Organization and all its affiliates! “How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.” Because Yehuveh’s people withdrew from this corrupt system at His appeal in Revelation 18:4, they are untouchable at this time: “Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.” Violence is from hormema [G3731], meaning “ a rush, impulse; that which is impelled or hurried away by impulse,” and is used only here in Revelation. Babylon is discussed in detail in notes on Revelation 14:8 and 16:19. Thrown down is discussed in notes on Revelation 4:10, where ballo [G0906, meaning “to vigorously or violently throw something”] is translated cast, as it was above. Psalms 73:19; Proverbs 3:25.

“Shall be found no more at all.” This phrase is identical to and conveys the same finality as the last line of Revelation 18:14.
