Re-evaluation Translation
18:8  Therefore shall society-changing events come in one day, a complete end, and grief for loss, and famine; and the global economy shall be utterly consumed with conviction: for strong is Yehuveh Elohim who judges it.

Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 18:8 (28 June 2008):  “Therefore shall her plagues come in one day,” clearly states that the social reformation which will bring the global economy down will come swiftly and indeed very suddenly. Plagues, as discussed in notes on Revelation 9:20, describe any societal-changing event or encounter. This is the only use of one day in Revelation, but parallels Isaiah 47:9: “These two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood.” Revelation 18:10, 17, 19 narrow the time to one hour, which is certainly within one day.  Compare Psalms 73:19, Proverbs 29:1; Isaiah 29:5; 30:13; 47:9 which speak of events of an instant

“Death,” “complete end,” is discussed in the notes on Revelation 2:11. Death is the same word used in regard to the fourth closing event (seal) in Revelation 6:8 and is clearly associated with the four “sore judgments” which bring this death: “I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and . . . power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword [warfare], and with hunger [famine], and with death [pestilence, pollution, pandemic, chemical warfare], and with the beasts of the earth [political oppression].” These four “sore judgments,” which are clearly associated with death, are described in Zechariah 6:1-8 as a four-planet-alignment sign in the heavens on 4 August 2008. Thus, the statement here pointedly connects the fall of the global economy, the World Trade Organization, with this stellar marker and with extensive death around the world. Study this four-planet-sign in notes on the fourth Year of Returning (Darius). Ezekiel 14:21.

“Mourning,” sorrow, grief of loss, discussed in notes on Revelation 18:7.  Not everyone dies, but nearly everyone will lose friends and family, thus nearly everyone that survives will mourn. The last assignment given to Yehuveh’s anointed instructors is to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” Isaiah 61:2-3.

“Famine,” is “lack of food,” from limos [G3042, meaning “scarcity of harvest, famine; hunger; dearth,”] is used only in Revelation 6:8 and 18:8

“She shall be utterly burned with fire,” physically and spiritually, as in that once this economic system collapses Yehuveh will make sure the elite are consumed with conviction as to their wrong course of living and its inevitable consequences. See burned and fire in notes on Revelation 8:5, 8:7, and 9:17.

“For strong is Yehuveh Elohim who judgeth her.” While humanity may be unable to bring this system down, it is no problem for Yehuveh! “For the day of Yehuveh of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low. . . . The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and Yehuveh alone shall be exalted in that day.” Regarding judging, study the notes on both Revelation 6:10 and 11:18Isaiah 2:12, 17.
