Revelation 13:4
Bible, KJV Translation:
13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Re-evaluation Translation:
13:4 The whole world reverenced the global socio-economic system which lost its power to the Iranian-led system; they now venerate the newly risen power, saying, Who is like unto this government? who is able to make war with it?
Significant Words and Comments:
Commentary on Revelation 13:4 (23 March 2008): “They worshipped,” is “all the people of the world/earth yielded to or bowed down to” “the dragon.” Worshipped is from proskuneo [G4352], meaning “to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand; to kiss the hand to (towards) one, in token of reverence; to fall upon the knees and touch the ground with the forehead as an expression of profound reverence; kneeling or prostration to do homage or make obeisance, whether in order to express respect or to make supplication.” All those who have not yielded to Yehuveh will yield to and truly place their trust and allegiance in the forceful intimidation and power of the global socio-economic system now in power. See Revelation 5:13 regarding the earth being symbol of those who know of Yehuveh but refuse to yield to Him.
When the present socio-economic system collapses and its “power” passes “unto the beast,” the emerging Iranian-led global government, all the people who are not committed to Yehuveh transfer their allegiance to “the beast” and “they worshipped the beast,” yielding their trust and allegiance to this new global government. Whether this allegiance is willing or forced, it is nonetheless given to this Iranian-led global government.
Fully intimidated by this new global power, people look at each other in astonishment or fear, “saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Yehuveh alone can bring it down! But He will shortly!
