Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Revelation 12:8 (26 February 2008): “Prevailed not,” is a fascinating rendering of ischuo [G2480], “to be strong, have power; be robust, to be in sound health; to be able.” The dragon has no ability to meet the truths now presented by Yehuveh’s anointed instructors. This global socio-economic beast cannot silence the instructors, refute their words, or stop people from responding to their appeals! Daniel had stated: “The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. . . . And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” Now that the appointed time is completed, this dragon-beast is powerless to stop Yehuveh’s instructors or to alter Yehuveh’s purposes in any way. Ischus is used only here in Revelation. Daniel 7:23-25. “Neither was their place found any more in heaven.” The dragon system of human enslavement and oppression is to be forever removed from Yehuveh’s people. “I am Yehuveh your Elohim, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.” Not only the oppression of taxation and extortion, but the oppression of false belief and confusion, are to be removed forever. We will again live righteous lives and in every way be upright people. “It shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Yehuveh Himself will bring this about! “For it shall come to pass in that day, saith Yehuveh of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him.” This change is forever! “The Elohim of heaven [shall] set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed, . . . and it shall stand for ever.” “What do ye imagine against Yehuveh? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.” Leviticus 26:13; Isaiah 10:27; Jeremiah 30:8 [also: Psalms 116:16; Isaiah 9:4; 14:25; 51:22-23 Jeremiah 2:20; Ezekiel 34:27; Nahum 1:13]; Daniel 2:44; Nahum 1:9. If oppression is removed “because of the anointing,” how is it we are not earnestly seeking Yehuveh’s anointing every moment of our lives? We come into His anointing in living His instructions. “I have ordained a lamp for Mine anointed.” “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” “Now know I that Yehuveh saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.” “Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore Elohim, thy Elohim, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Psalms 132:17; 119:105; 20:6; 45:7 [also, Isaiah 37:35; 2 Samuel 1:21; Psalms 2:1-3, 6 (margin); 84:9; 89:20-52; 105:12-15; 132:10, 17-18; Dan 9:24-26].
