Grand Final Victory for Jerusalem: Commentary on Zechariah 14:1-8 (16 April 2009): Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Zechariah 14:1-2 (16 April 2009): “Behold, the day of Yehuveh cometh,” the day which He has set for the re-instruction of all nations. While the Scriptures very often use the phrase “the day of Yehuveh” to refer to a day of destruction and trouble (see notes on Zechariah 5:9, 7:2, and 11:2) it simply indicates any day appointed by Yehuveh for a specific purpose. In this context, this day is appointed for the instruction of the nations. “Thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee” speaks of both practical wealth acquired from all the corrupt nations of the world and the spiritual wealth of re-learning Yehuveh’s ways. Daniel 11:24 clearly states that the Lamb-king will do “that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them [the redeemed and restored peoples] the prey, and spoil, and riches.” The wealth which was acquired by an elite few through the exploitation of masses is now to be returned to those whose labor produced it. Just as anciently “Yehuveh gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent [gave] unto them such things as they required, and they spoiled the Egyptians,” so now Yehuveh’s restored people are to be given the accumulated wealth of all nations. Exodus 12:36. “For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle,” should simply read, “I will gather all nations into Jerusalem for exchange/instruction.” “Many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yehuveh, and to the house of the Elohim of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of Yehuveh from Jerusalem.” Micah 4:2. “The city shall be taken [laqach, H3947]” reflects Jeremiah 35:13: “Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive [laqach, H3947] instruction to hearken to My words? saith Yehuveh.” “The houses rifled,” simply states that every family must be search for truth independently of their neighbors, friends, and other relatives. Even “the women ravished [entirely satisfied with what they learn and understand].” “Half of the city shall go forth into captivity,” simply states that the revelation of Yehuveh’s truth will be made in the midst of Jerusalem, and the rest “of the people shall not be cut off from” the instruction provided in “the city.” Gael Bataman Originally Written: 16 April 2009 Latest Update: 16 April 2009 Return to Zadok Home Page Continue . . .
