Yehuveh’s Fourth Sign in the Heavens: Commentary on Zechariah 2:1-13 (23 November 2008):

Significant Words and Comments:

Significant Words: 2:11 (23 November 2008):  Many is from rab [H7227], meaning “abundant (in quantity, size, age, number, rank, quality).” Rab is used only four times in Zechariah [2:12; 8:20, 22; 14:13].

Nations [H1471] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 1:15.

Shall be joined, used only here in Zechariah, is from lavah [H3867], meaning “to twine; by implication, to unite, to remain; also to borrow (as a form of obligation) or to lend.” This unity is far more than a handshake and a nod, for Daniel 11:23 describes it as a league or formal uniting of one nation with another in common purpose. The Scriptures have much to say about this restoration of many nations to a serving unity with restored Israel: Zechariah 8:20-23; Psalms 22:27-30; 68:29-31; 72:8-11, 17; Isaiah 2:2-5; 11:9, 10; 19:24,25; 42:1-4; 45:14; 49:6, 7, 22, 23; 52:10; 60:3-7; 66:19; Jeremiah 16:19; Malachi 1:11. Also see notes regarding lavah [H3867] at Daniel 11:34

Yehuveh [H3068] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 1:1.

Day [H3117] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 1:7.

People is from `am [H5971], meaning “a people (as a congregated unit); specifically, a tribe; hence, troops, attendants; a flock.” `Am is used nineteen times in Zechariah [2:12; 7:5; 8:6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 20, 22; 9:16; 10:9; 11:11; 12:2, 3, 4, 6; 13:9; 14:2, 12].

Will dwell [H7931] is here speaking specifically of permanent abiding or living, as discussed in notes on Zechariah 2:10.

Midst [H8432] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 2:4.

Shalt know [H3045] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 2:9.

Yehuveh [H3068] of hosts [H6635] is discussed in notes on Zechariah 1:3.
