Haggai Sounds the Warning
in the Second
Year of Returning

What is “the desire of all nations,” indeed of every individual, which is to “come” when all nations are shaken and overthrown? From the time humanity lost their close relationship with Yehuveh and the purity which had been theirs, there has been the deepest, though often unconfessed, desire for full restoration. The first promise Yehuveh made was to “put enmity between” humanity and the evil they had come into, but this alone could not bring them the desired restoration. To Abraham, a man singled out because he so deeply desired and chose Yehuveh’s ways, Yehuveh promised “in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed My voice.” This blessing is the beginning of the restoration, but still the full desire has not been satisfied. Genesis 3:15; 22:18.
Through Jacob, when national leadership was given to Judah and the tribe descended from him, Yehuveh promised:
“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come [shiyloh, H7886, “tranquility, harmony, security, prosperity”]; and unto him [this restored unity with Yehuveh] shall the gathering of the people be. ” This was an absolute assurance that indeed shiloh [“tranquility, harmony, security, prosperity”] would finally come! Now Haggai is affirming that it will come when Yehuveh has shaken “the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land” and all the nations are overthrown! Genesis 49:10.
deepest desire of every nation and every individual to return to all the blessings Yehuveh created humanity to enjoy is very soon to be satisfied. Daniel clearly states that we are now in the midst of a sevens (weeks) [seven years] of confirming our covenant relationship with Yehuveh. When this restoration is completed, which Haggai states will happen after Yehuveh shakes and overthrows all nations, Yehuveh will again “set up a kingdom, which shall never de destroyed,” and restore peace, harmony, and prosperity to the earth. Then indeed “the desire of all nations will” have “come”! Then sounds the joyous note: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation. . . . He shall speak peace unto the heathen: and His dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.” Awesome assurance! “How great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty!” Daniel 9:27; 2:44; Zechariah 9:9-10, 17
