Ezekiel 26:1-3

Judgment on Tyre

26:1  And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of Yehuveh came unto me, saying,
26:2  Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken that was the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste:
26:3  Therefore thus saith Yehuveh Elohim; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.

Commentary on 26:2-3 [21 November 2007]: Ancient Tyre is gone. To whom does this prophecy apply in our time? According to In Search of . . . the Origin of Nations, page 66, “When the modern Babylon/Tyre/United States of Europe invades the Middle East, ‘these shall escape out of his hand even Edom and Moab and the chief of the children of Ammon.’ Daniel 11:41.” On p. 71 is added: “Tyre [southern Italians, symbolic also of the U.S. of Europe] . . . the soon-coming National European Socialist Empire!” P. 89 adds: “. . . the “King of the North” (a German-led United Europe — modern Babylon or Tyre) . . .” P. 171 repeats: “Europe (Tyre or Babylon). . . . ‘a strong [United] Europe.’” Then on p. 174, the author states: “It appears that initially Russia will be firm allies with German-led Europe (Ezekiel 21:13) which will supply Russia with the technology, expertise and finances she requires to modernize, whilst Russia will supply Europe with the raw materials which would be needed for their future awesome war machine. Ezekiel equates Babylon/Chaldea with Tyre; we note that the peoples of Tyre are in southern Italy and Sicily today . . . but symbolically it applies to the coming tremendously prosperous National European Socialist Empire. God warns the soon-to-arise modern Babylon/Chaldea/Tyre/Europe ‘I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations.’ Ezekiel 28:7.
While I respect this point of view, events of this day indicate a larger scope.
“The World Trade Center officially opens in New York City with a ribbon-cutting ceremony” on 4 April 1973. Three times in this and the following chapter, Ezekiel speaks specifically of the twin towers and their demise: “And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock.” “And he shall set engines of war against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.” “The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.” Isaiah 30:25 also speaks of “the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.” Thus, from Scriptures it appears that Tyre is symbol of the World Trade Organization, which in spite of its name, is not global. Though trading with nations around the world, the World Trade Organization is predominately a western entity, and Yehuveh can, therefore, “cause many nations to come up against thee,” and “it shall become a spoil to the nations.”; Ezekiel 26:4, 9; 27:11; 26:3, 5.
Re-read these verses with this insight:
“Because that the United States and the nations of Europe, led by Germany, have said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken: . . . she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste: therefore thus saith Yehuveh Elohim; Behold, I am against thee, O World Trade Organization, and will cause many nations to come up against thee. ”
