Commentary on Ezekiel 6:10-12 |
||
6:10 And they shall know that I am Yehuveh, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them. 6:11 Thus saith Yehuveh Elohim; Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. 6:12 He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish My fury upon them. |

Commentary on 6:10 [16 September 2007]: Ezekiel uses the expression “shall know that I am Yehuveh” 57 times in his book, referring to Israel and to all the peoples of the earth. In almost all the passages, it is devastation and suffering that bring them to know Him. However, in chapter 20, it was His statutes and commandments, and in particular His Sabbaths, which were intended to bring them this knowledge. Yehuveh wants us to know Him, and He would gladly bring us this knowledge in gentle and pleasant ways, if we would allow it. However, if we refuse to embrace His instructions in this manner, He is left with no option to but to bring destruction and pain. For a full examination of this tragic reality, study all the references in the book of Ezekiel, and beyond: Ezekiel 6:7, 10, 13-14; 7:4, 9, 27; 11:10, 12; 12:15, 16, 20; 13:9, 14, 21, 23; 14:8, 23; 15:7; 17:21, 24; 20:38, 42, 44; 22:22; 23:49; 24:24, 27; 25:5, 11, 17; 26:6; 28:22, 23, 24, 26; 29:6, 16, 21; 30:8, 19, 25, 26; 34:27; 35:9, 15; 36:11, 23, 36, 38; 37:6, 13, 28; 38:23; 39:6, 7, 22; Exodus 7:5; 14:4, 18; 2 Kings 19:19; Psalms 83:17, 18; Daniel 4:35-37; 6:26, 27. Commentary on 6:11-12 [16 September 2007]: Famine, disease and warfare are coming on Israel. It appears that there will be impact on many who are of like mind but not yet living in the land of Israel itself, for “He that is far off shall die of the pestilence [ravaging diseases and pollution]; and he that is near shall fall by the sword [warfare]; and he that remaineth [in Jerusalem and the cities of Israel] and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish My fury upon them.” Gael Bataman Originally Written: 16 September 2007 Latest Update: 16 September 2007 Return to Zadok Home Continue . . .
