Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Daniel 12:11 (2 August 2009): “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away,” as discussed in notes on Daniel 11:31, speaks of the time when the Gregorian time-keeping system with its continual week is forever removed from human experience. Daniel 12:8. In the Hebrew of this phrase, from is from the prefix mem which could have been translated of. This reading, “of the time that the continual is taken away,” states that this take-down required 1290 days, regardless of when this span started or ended, rather than starting a new count of this length after this removal has been accomplished. Even though Yehuveh apparently dismissed Daniel’s earlier question, “What shall be the end of these things?” He now answers it with two pieces of invaluable and very specific information, two time-spans with significant meaning and placement: “a thousand two hundred and ninety days,” [Daniel 12:8] and “the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days” [Daniel 12:12]. While thees two time-spans are not clearly stated to be linked together, their mutual presentation in the same context implies that they are. In Daniel 11:29-31 Yehuveh indicates that the removal of the continual week [and the entire Gregorian time-keeping system] is initially accomplished by the Russian-Chinese Coalition. This is significant, for this time system was established by the Roman Catholic church and Pope Gregory, and must therefore be removed by an organization or national group which has finally become more powerful that the Catholic Church. Now Yehuveh explains to Daniel that the removal of these deadly lies could not and had not come suddenly, and He tells him just how long this process required, “a thousand two hundred and ninety days,” slightly more than three and a half solar years. However, He does not here tell Daniel anything about when these 1290 days would began or end. In answering Daniel’s question, Yehuveh has provided us an invaluable piece to the prophetic puzzle and significant foresight into what is just ahead of us.
