Re-evaluation Translation: Daniel 12:2 And many of the dead will be resurrected, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:3 All who embrace Yehuveh’s wisdom will illuminate others as His instructors; and those who turn many to righteousness as small lights for ever and ever. Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many will burst out [of darkness], and knowledge will be increased. |
Bible, KJV Translation: Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. |

Significant Words and Comments: Commentary on Daniel 12:2-4 (27 July 2009): “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,” continues the details of this time by stating that at the very same time when the earth’s general population are receiving final instruction so they can make final decisions for or against Yehuveh, some of the dead are resurrected and given the same opportunity. Note the careful wording here: “many of them that sleep in the dust . . .” not all. Scriptures are very clear that there are three groups of people: the righteous who choose Yehuveh’s ways, the wicked who refuse to serve Him [“Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.”], and a large number who have yet to decide what they value [“If it seem evil unto you to serve Yehuveh, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served, . . . or the elohims of the [people] in whose land ye dwell.”]. Isaiah 3:10-11; Joshua 24:15. Raising the wicked to life for further instruction serves no purpose; their final decision has already been made. Raising the righteous is the fulfillment of Psalms 18:24: “Therefore hath Yehuveh recompensed me according to my righteousness.” These are the “some” who are raised “to everlasting life.” “Verily there is a reward for the righteous.” Psalms 58:11. But Yehuveh knows that there are many who “have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory” and some of them will rejoice to learn of Him and also be among those who are raised “to everlasting life.” Others, however, weigh the instruction and still “turn away from following Yehuveh.” These are the “some” who are raised “to shame and everlasting contempt.” They join with the rest of those who have rejected Yehuveh and perish with them. Isaiah 66:29; 2 Chronicles 25:27. “They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever,” for “the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” “All thy children shall be taught of Yehuveh; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” Proverbs 4:18; Isaiah 54:13.
