Daniel 11:34-35, Page 3

Re-evaluation Translation:
Repeating) Daniel 11:34  And in their trembling they [those who are learning] are offered a little assistance, and they [those who are learning] unite themselves with many with intense consistency.
Daniel 11:35  And from wise instructors they are shaken to purify themselves and to be purged and made pure until the end of time until the appointed time [mo’ed] which Yehuveh previously determined.

Bible, KJV Translation:
Repeating) Daniel 11:34  Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

Daniel 11:35  And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Significant Words and Comments:

Signifiicant Words in Daniel 11:35 (11 November 2007):
Some of them is from min [from James Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary entry H4480, from the primary root verb H4482], properly meaning “a part of; hence, from or out of,” as discussed in notes on Daniel 11:5
Understanding is from sakal [H7919], meaning “to be circumspect, hence, to be intelligent,” as discussed in notes on Daniel 11:33.
Some of them of understanding shall fall, is nowhere close to what is said in the Hebrew. The Hebrew words in order say, “And from understanding shall shake/tremble.” Essentially, understanding the truth will cause each person who learns it and to weigh it and tremble [decide whether to accept or resist it].
Fall, tremble, is from kashal [H3782], “to totter or waver,” “to tremble,” to prayerfully weigh a decision, a process very different from wavering once a decision has been made, as discussed in notes on Daniel 11:14. To tremble is to examine new information and compare it to former beliefs, weighing not only the validity and truth of each side, but also the ramifications to yourself and others of accepting or rejecting the new insights.
To try, to refine, from tsaraph [H6884], literally meaning “to fuse; to refine.” “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. “ “I will . . . refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on My name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is My people: and they shall say, Yehuveh is my Elohim.” Tsaraph is used only twice in Daniel 11-12 [11:35; 12:10].  Zechariah 13:9; Isaiah 48:10.
The trials and afflictions we must experience are for a single purpose, to purge, and to make us white (pure, loyal, unwavering). It is effective.
“Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Daniel 12:10.
To purge, barar [H1305], literally mean “to clarify; to brighten, to examine, to select.” Barar is used only twice in Daniel 11-12 [11:35; 12:10].
To make white is from laban [H3835], meaning “to be or become white.” Laban is used only twice in Daniel 11-12 [11:35; 12:10].
Even to, even until, `ad [H5704/H5703], as discussed by Daniel 11:10
Time, `eth [H6256/H5703/H5710], is discussed in notes on Daniel 11:6.
End, qets [H7093/H7112], “extremity,” as discussed by Daniel 11:6.
Even to the time of the end in Hebrew is “unto the edge of time.” Attached to the next phrase, “until the apointed time [mo’ed],” the last part of Daniel 11:35 simply reads: “until the end of the mo’ed.” This is the third appointed time noted in Daniel 11, covering three significant transitions which Yehuveh has established for His people. See Leviticus 23:24-43 and notes by Daniel 11:27, 29.
For still, `owd [H5750/H5749], “again,” is discussed by Daniel 11:2.
Because is kiy [H3588], and in context it is better translated until.
Time appointed, mow`ed [H4150/H3259], is discussed by Daniel 11:27.
