Commentary on Enoch’s Second Vision
from the Book of Enoch, Chapter 90:38-42.

Text

90:38  And I saw till all their generations were transformed, and they all became white bulls; and the
first among them became a lamb, and that lamb became a great animal and had great black
          horns on its head; and
Yehuveh of the sheep rejoiced over it and over all the oxen.
90:39  And I slept in their midst: and I awoke and saw everything.
90:40  This is the vision which I saw while I slept, and I awoke and blessed Yehuveh of righteousness
          and gave Him glory.
90:41  Then I wept with a great weeping, and my tears stayed not till I could no longer endure it:
when I saw, they flowed on account of what I had seen; for everything shall come and be
fulfilled, and all the deeds of men in their order were shown to me.
90:42  On that night I remembered the first dream, and because of it I wept and was troubled—
because I had seen that vision.’
Commentary

90:38
We, who live through this time, will all be transformed and become white bulls. We will again have the life of Enoch and Abraham! This first white bull, with all the strength and ability native to his nature, becomes a humble and gentle lamb, but even in his humility and gentleness he is a powerful being and regarded as their leader by all the great ones around him.

90:39 Restored to the earth, Enoch now rests in the midst of the purified people and their restored leaders. “I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.” “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.” “And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.” Isaiah 1:26; 32:1; Jeremiah 33:7.
        Yehuveh promises:
“I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even My servant David. . . . And I Yehuveh will be their Elohim, and My servant David a prince among them.” “And David My servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in My judgments, and observe My statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob My servant; . . . and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and My servant David shall be their prince for ever.” “And My princes shall no more oppress My people.” Ezekiel 34:23-24; 37:24-25; 45:8.
All rebellion is ended and the righteous can again
“both lay . . . down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Yehuveh, only makest [us] dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8.

90:40-42 In our degenerate condition it is impossible to comprehend the anguish which an individual as close to Yehuveh and as righteous as Enoch was must have felt after witnessing the utter abandonment of our race in the centuries following his righteous rule on earth.
These things are written for us. We must take heed and learn from what Yehuveh has revealed. As with steady hand we trace the recorded events now past, a prayerful study of the yet unfulfilled verses of this vision should give us insight into what lies ahead in the near future.
“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.” “Surely Yehuveh Elohim will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets.” Isaiah 42:9; Amos 3:7.
