Commentary on Enoch’s Second Vision
from the Book of Enoch, Chapter 90:2-4.

Text

90:2  And after that I saw in my vision all the birds of heaven coming, the eagles, the vultures,
the kites, the ravens; but the eagles led all the birds; and they began to devour those sheep,
and to pick out their eyes and to devour their flesh.
90:3  And the sheep cried out because their flesh was being devoured by the birds, and as for me
I looked and lamented in my sleep over that shepherd who pastured the sheep.
90:4  And I saw until those sheep were devoured by the dogs and eagles and kites, and they left
neither flesh nor skin nor sinew remaining on them till only their bones stood there: and
their bones too fell to the earth and the sheep became few.
Commentary

90:2-3 About this time “Babylon the great, . . . the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird,” Roman Catholicism, the essence of Babylon transferred from a local political kingdom to a “universal” religious kingdom, made aggressive efforts to conquer the Hebrew believers throughout Europe and the Islands. This central group and all its allies began to oppress the Hebrew peoples in Europe and beyond. They destroyed their teachers and school (eyes) and destroyed, hid, or otherwise made all their documents unavailable to them and to future generations. Revelation 18:2.
        David I. Kertzer’s book,
The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican’s Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism, presents the history of these times with graphic description. It is no wonder the sheep cried out and Enoch lamented. Among other writings which were suppressed, his very book, this Book of Enoch, was hidden. By the time these birds had oppressed and destroyed the Hebrew people and suppressed the Hebrew documents, “the sheep became few.”
The influence of “Babylon” on the European kings brought about horrible oppressions of the Hebrew people. Many were forced to change their names on pain of death. Their writings were confiscated and burned, their schools were destroyed and their teachers were forced to convert or be killed. Many of the people converted outwardly only, yet this had a disastrous impact on the generations which followed. Without their documented history, within two generations it was possible to virtually hid all the truth which was
Israel’s heritage and treasure. This opened the way for great deception.

90:4 Dogs, the Philistines who descended to our time as the Palestinians, along with the eagles, the Assyrian Germans and their allies, and the kites, the descendents of the Turkish government, work together to to destroy the visible Hebrew people, the Jews and Gypsies.
