13:5 For from thenceforward they could not speak nor lift up their eyes to heaven for shame of their sins for which they had been condemned. 13:6 Then I wrote out their petition, and the prayer in regard to their spirits and their deeds individually and in regard to their requests that they should have forgiveness and length. 13:7 And I went off and sat down at the waters of Dan, in the land of Dan, to the south of the west of Hermon: I read their petition till I fell asleep. 13:8 And behold a dream came to me, and visions fell down upon me, and I saw visions of chastisement, and a voice came bidding me to tell the sons of heaven, and reprimand them. 13:9 And when I awaked, I came unto them, and they were all sitting gathered together, weeping in ’Abelsjâil, which is between Lebanon and Sênêsêr, with their faces covered. 13:10 And I recounted before them all the visions which I had seen in sleep, and I began to speak the words of righteousness, and to reprimand the heavenly Watchers. |

13:5 Spiritual separation between Yehuveh’s creatures and Himself always follows with physical separation. When Adam and Cheveh (Eve) disregarded Yehuveh’s first restirction, they “hid themselves from the presence of Yehuveh Elohim amongst the trees of the garden.” After Cain killed his brother, he “went out from the presence of Yehuveh.” When Jonah preferred disobedience over complliance with Yehuveh’s requrest, he “rose up to flee . . . from the presence of Yehuveh.” Genesis 3:8; 4:16; Jonah 1:3. This separation is very real, but it is real only from our perspective, for “The eyes of Yehuveh are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” These heavenly beings could no longer return to Yehuveh’s presence for “Yehuveh thy Elohim is a consuming fire” to all unrighteousness. This fear, which forces separation, extends even to those who profess to love Yehuveh if they choose not to live in honor of Him. “The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” Proverbs 15:3; Deuteronomy 4:24; Isaiah 33:14. 13:9 The location here named ’Abelsjâil is proposed by R. H. Charles to be “a town in the Atnilibanus, which could be loosely described as lying between Lebanon and Senir [Hermon]” as “Sênêsêr, Senir, [is] a name of Hermon.” It appears to be a conjecture, but may have value.
