8th month            23 October to 21 November     Zechariah 1:1-6: Call to repentance

        A week after the
Fall Rehearsals end, Yehuveh again brings a very strong appeal to His people for repentance and returning to His ways.
The summer has been drought-dry and the food situation is bleak; from the prophecies we know a mighty shaking is very near, that our whole world is about to change [indeed, most likely it is the prevalence of physical phenomenon following this month that most appeals to Yehuveh’s people to repent and return]. Yehuveh told Ezekiel:
“Prophesy unto the wind . . . Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.” Ezekiel 37:9.
       All this tumult—
the four winds of heaven: war, famine, disease, oppression—will awaken men and bring many to Yehuveh again as nothing else can. Zechariah 6:5.

9th month, 24th day     15 December 2006    Haggai 2:10, 20: Overthrow nations foretold

Yehuveh explains the condition of His people, their uncleanness and their neglect of His ways. Then He assures them,
“Consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of Yehuveh.” “Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of Yehuveh’s temple was laid, consider it.” Haggai 2:15, 18.
Then He repeats His warning about the shaking of all things, adding details about bringing down the kingdoms and destroying armies and transportation, largely by civil war and internal fighting:
“I will shake the heavens and the earth; and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.” Haggai 2:21-22.
       The prophecies of
the emptying of the land—the depopulation and destruction of Israel, Jerusalem and the cities of Judah—as presented in Isaiah 24, Jeremiah 25, Ezekiel 7 and Zephaniah 1—are to be fulfilled soon.
