Yehuveh’s Third Quality/Spirit/Strength: Understanding
Biynah [H0998], meaning intelligence, understanding, ability to grasp concepts, analytical skills.
Biynah correlates with Yehuveh’s third commandment: “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehuveh thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.” Exodus 20:5-6; Deuteronomy 5:9-10
Biynah describes our native and developed abilities to intelligently take in Yehuveh’s instructions and apply them to the decisions we must make. Never are we to yield Yehuveh’s clear instruction to the ideas and purposes of men. “Now therefore fear Yehuveh, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the elohims [providers and protectors and personal ideas] which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye Yehuveh.” Joshua 24:14.
Prayerfully ponder the profound value Solomon attaches to this
third quality/spirit/strength: “If thou criest after knowledge [Quality 3: biynah, H0998, understanding], and liftest up thy voice for understanding [tabuwn, H8394, astuteness] if thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear [Quality 9: yir’ah, H3374] of Yehuveh, and find the knowledge [Quality 4: da`ath, H1847] of Elohim. For Yehuveh giveth wisdom [Quality 2: chokmah, H2451]: out of His mouth cometh knowledge [Quality 4: H1847] and understanding [tabuwn, H8394, astuteness]. He layeth up sound wisdom [tuwshiyah, H8454, ability] for the righteous: He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of His saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. When wisdom [Quality 2: H2451] entereth into thine heart, and knowledge [Quality 4: H1847] is pleasant unto thy soul; discretion [mezimmah, H4209, prayerful planning] shall preserve thee, understanding [tabuwn, H8394, astuteness] shall keep thee.” Proverbs 2:3-10.
