Section 6: Opening Prophecy, Article 3
Confirming the Covenant
with Many for Seven Years

“And unto the end of the war desolations are determined,” echoes the reality of the emptying of the land of Israel of its rebellious population and the Day of Vengeance of our Elohim! As these discussions involves far more than appropriately fits the context of this Article, both topics are placed as entirely separate considerations in Section 6: Articles 13: When Yehuveh Empties the Land and Section 6: Articles 6: The Day of Vengeance, discussing the details of what is coming and the warning we are to sound to prepare Yehuveh’s people, and Section 8: Articles 7: Proclaim the Day of Vengeance, discussing the Scripturally-estimated timing of these events. To fill out the context, Section 8: Articles 4: Proclaiming Liberty and 6: Proclaim the Acceptable Year explain more of Yehuveh’s end-time schedule. Also study the entire section on the six Years of Returning (Darius) and the accompanying Chart graphically portraying the events foretold to occur during and at the end of these seven years.

Confirming “the Covenant with Many”

And now for the true and invaluable importance of
this final seven years! Daniel 9:27 clearly states that during this last seven years Yehuveh Himself “shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.” He promises: This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith Yehuveh, I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.” “And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.” “For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be My people, and I will be your Elohim. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.” Jeremiah 31:33; 32:40; Ezekiel 36:25-30. Compare Deuteronomy 30:6; Psalms 37:31; 40:8; Isaiah 51:7; Ezekiel 11:19.
        Yehuveh
“shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.” There is so much involved in these nine words! Study Section 1: Article 9: The Everlasting Covenant regarding the content and purpose of Yehuveh’s solemn eternal promise to and agreement with mankind! All of the Section 5 Articles regarding Yehuveh’s Time-Keeping System tie into this mutual pledge. To again personally, individually “confirm” our “covenant” with Yehuveh, we must understand His ways and willingly return to living under His full instruction. Those who do so will “come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head.” Isaiah 51:11.

Causing “the Sacrifice and Oblation to Cease”
        The next phrase,
“in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,” though here rendered inaccurately, confirm the joyous promise of the Acceptable Year of Yehuveh. While “in the midst of the week” may specify the very center year, it far more fittingly indicates that during these seven years these stated changes will take place. The phrase “sacrifice and the oblation” are from a Hebrew phrase “zebach and minchah,” where zebach [H2077] means “slaughter, sacrifice, or surrender, submission,” and minchah [H4503] means “to apportion, bestow; donation; tribute; a sacrificial offering (usually bloodless and voluntary).”
