Section 6: Opening Prophecy, Article 3 Confirming the Covenant with Many for Seven Years Page 3 |

In dramatic contrast to traditional interpretations of this prophecy which apply the phrase “unto the messiah the prince” to Yehoshua (Jesus) and assume that it applies to his supposed ministry in A.D. 27-31, Yehuveh is simply stating that at the beginning of this final week of His closing work He raises up anointed instructors to again present His covenant to the people and to gather out His remnant. Destroy the City and the Sanctuary The next phrase is also badly mistranslated: “and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.” As noted in the previous section, the phrase “and the people” is included with the previous line and has no part here. The remainder of the line simply states that “the prince [a commander or civil, military or religious leader] that shall come shall destroy [decay, break down] the city [Jerusalem] and the sanctuary [this word only indicates a place set apart or special to Yehuveh, not necessarily the temple or the sanctuary constructions known to Israel].” In reality, then, this phrase is stating, “a commander or leader will break down the set-apart city,” Jerusalem. There is plenty of Scriptural support for identifying this tragic prediction with the city of Jerusalem now standing in Palestine and for placing this event within the seven years spanning the spring of 2005 to the spring of 2012: “I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.” “Say unto the people of the land, Thus saith Yehuveh Elohim of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.” “Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.” “For thus hath Yehuveh said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.” Ezekiel wrote from a position in captivity after ancient Jerusalem had been destroyed, so it is obvious his words apply to a time far future, namely to events which complete the prophecies of closure for the time “determined upon thy people” described in Daniel 9. Jeremiah 9:11; Ezekiel 12:19; Jeremiah 7:34; 4:27 [compare Leviticus 26:33; Nehemiah 4:2; Psalms 79:1; Isaiah 6:11; 24:7, 8; 25:2; 44:6; 51:37; Jeremiah 9:10, 11; 10:22; 16:9; 18:16; 25:10; 26:18; 32:28; 33:10, 12; Ezekiel 6:6, 7, 14; 26:13; 36:3; Hosea 2:11; Micah 1:6, 7; 3:12; 6:11; 7:13; Zechariah 7:14; Revelation 18:23]; Daniel 9:24. With the small bombings and various other terrorist attacks endangering Jerusalem right now, and potential nuclear warfare being threatened, we’re close to the fulfillment of this prophecy. It is exactly the prediction given in Zephaniah 1:4-12, “I will also stretch out Mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; . . . . and it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, Yehuveh will not do good, neither will he do evil.” The whole of Isaiah 24 and Zephaniah 1 describe the depopulation and desolating of this city and land. Dramatically accelerating since August 2005 with the removal of settlements from the West Bank and Gaza, we are witnessing Yehuveh’s words: “I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith Yehuveh. I will consume man and beast” “until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, and Yehuveh have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.” Jeremiah 25 adds dimension of the global involvement, delineating the nations which will be involved, and the aftermath they will suffer at the hand of Yehuveh for their part in destroying His “sanctuary” land.
