Section 5: Yehuveh’s Time System, Article 5
Months

“So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat. . . . Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean. And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day? And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem. . . . Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan. . . . And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David. So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.”
From this it is clear that a celebration of importance marked the
New Moon, and that the following day was designated the “second day of the month,” clearly defining the New Moon as the first day of the month.
        As noted before, this
New Moon was marked by reconfirming our covenant relationship with Yehuveh: “In the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering [a full surrender of yourself] unto Yehuveh.” Yehuveh’s people are told, “in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your Elohim: I am Yehuveh your Elohim.” “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” Numbers 28:11; 10:10; Psalms 81:3.

Months are an Integrated Part of the Whole Time System
        Repeatedly throughout the Scriptures the
New Moons are mentioned in association with the weekly Sabbaths and annual gatherings: “To offer all burnt sacrifices unto Yehuveh in the Sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts . . . .” When Yehuveh’s full time system is understood, there is no other way it can be. The year, the months and their corresponding New Moon days, the sevens (weeks) marked by the Sabbaths, the days of the weeks and of the month, and the annual festivals are all intimately related to the movement of the sun and moon. The whole plan is beautifully simple and appealing. Study each of the links in this paragraph to gain the full picture. 1 Chronicles 23:31. [Also: 2 Chronicles 2:4; 8:13; 31:3; Nehemiah 10:33; Isaiah 1:13; Ezekiel 45:17; 46:3; Hosea 2:11.]
Yehuveh’s reservation of set-apart times provides us with everything needed for a successful life-plan which is exceedingly simple and all-encompassing. His designation of time to be spent with Him provides for our development in every dimension and for the prosperious provision of our every need. In its simplest explanation, this is Yehuveh’s design:

Daily at sunrise and sunset we are to reconsecrate ourselves to Yehuveh, laying our daily
plans before Him in the morning and assessing our achievements in the evening.

Weekly at the Sabbath we are to repeat this process on a wider scale, assessing the
achievements of the past week and laying plans for the week ahead.

Monthly the New Moon days expand this experience to a monthly assessment and planning.

Yearly the Day of Restarting (Atonement) provide us specific set-aside time to make this
assessment and lay plans on an annual basis.
