Section 5: Yehuveh’s Time System, Article 3

Days and Years

“Elohim said,
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
and for days, and years.”
Genesis 1:14.

C
rowding together and jostling one another, laughing and singing and talking all at once, everyone seemed jovial and expectant. Suddenly there was near silence as everyone turned attention to the counting on the big screen and chanted with the voice over the loud-speaker. “Sixty, fifty-nine,
fifty-eight, fifty-seven, . . . thirty-nine, thirty-eight, thirty-seven, . . .  sixteen, fifteen, fourteen, . . .” and finally the last countdown—“ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, . . . . . .” The ball dropped and the whole crowd broke into shouting, cheering, hugging, and laughing! “Happy New Year!” “Happy New Year!” “Happy New Year!” echoed in every direction! Gradually the crowd dispersed and everyone went off—some to enjoy their late parties, others wearily making their way home to their own warm beds.
        Times Square New Year Eve celebration! Who questions the occasion? People of all faiths and no faiths gather and welcome in what they believe is the beginning of a new year, yet nothing could be farther from the Scriptural truth
Yehuveh has given us from creation. The day does not begin at midnight and the year does not begin in the dead of winter! By Yehuveh’s clearest statements, the Times Square celebration is held at entirely the wrong time!

Original Marking of Time
        At creation, Yehuveh defined time-keeping by the movements of the sun, moon and stars.
Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons [appointments, festivals], and for days, and years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And Elohim made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also. And Elohim set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and Elohim saw that it was good.” Psalms 104:19-24 adds details to this picture: “He appointed the moon for seasons [appointments, festivals]: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from Elohim. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. O Yehuveh, how manifold are Thy works! in wisdom hast Thou made them all: the earth is full of Thy riches.” It is Yehuveh’s purpose that we regulate our lives in harmony with these natural cycles. Genesis 1:14-18.
