Healing Yehuveh’s Way
“He sent His word, and healed them,
and delivered them from their destructions.”
|rue healing, like the preservation of health, is only found in living in harmony with the ways Yehuveh designed our bodies to be maintained. When Yehuveh promised Israel life and health, His conditions were very simple: “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of Yehuveh thy Elohim,|
|and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am Yehuveh that healeth thee.” The request to live in Yehuveh’s ways is not legal religion, not a set of rules, not rigidity and legalism; rather, it is simply heeding Yehuveh’s directions for handling the delicate machinery with which we have been entrusted. We have been “fearfully and wonderfully made,” and cooperating with our Maker in preserving this awesome machinery is the least we can return to Him for all “His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Exodus 15:26; Psalms 139:14; 107:8.
Healing involves many things. Some healing is mostly spiritual, involving reconnecting with and reconsecration to Yehuveh. Some healing in primarily mental and emotional, and working with individuals needing redirection in their thinking is usually exceedingly challenging. Occasionally healing is essentially physical, such as when you break a bone and have it set. But in reality, healing is seldom that divisible. Most healing involves all three aspects of our being. Yehuveh has it all covered: “Bless Yehuveh, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities (rebellions; spiritual healing); who healeth all thy diseases (physical healing); Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies (spiritual, social, and emotional healing); Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things (physical healing).” Psalms 103:2-5.
Much spiritual healing involves reconnecting with Yehuveh and confirming the covenant with Him. Individuals feel the emptiness and hunger that separation from our “Husband” inevitably brings. This longing for intimacy with Yehuveh cannot be satisfied by anything except opening the heart to Him and accepting the help He alone brings. “For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; because they rebelled against the words of El, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore He brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried unto Yehuveh in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.” Isaiah 54:4; Psalms 107:9-14.
