Deliverance from Trouble

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble:
I will deliver thee,
and thou shalt glorify Me.”
Psalms 50:15.

essica sat alone in the darkness, her body exhausted, but her mind so awake she felt like she was facing the crisis of her life. It was 3:00 a.m. on March 5th, 2005, and though she desperately needed to sleep, anxiety and gnawing fear of impending disaster intensely pressed on her whole being. Two
Scriptures kept returning to her mind. Both seemed strangely comforting, yet she wasn’t sure why. The first was a verse her children had learned as a Scripture song in their early childhood. She vividly remembered them coming and going from the house singing: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.” Suddenly, it became her song! The second passage was similar: “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: . . . He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.” Psalm 50:15; 91:14-15.
Around and around the verses circled:
“Because we set our love upon Him, Yehuveh will deliver us from our troubles.” “Because I set my love upon Him, Yehuveh will deliver me from my troubles.” The promise suddenly became intensely personal.  Jessica knew she needed help, desperately needed help, but never before had she reached the point of praying for deliverance. The idea amazed her, yet that was exactly what she craved: “deliverance from all her troubles.” Her whole being cried for it.
With the spreadsheet of all their finances spread out on the laptop computer in front of her, Jessica laid the matter into Yehuveh’s hands: “What are the
troubles from which I need deliverance tonight, March 5, 2005? In our efforts to make a change in our lives, we are in tremendous financial difficulty. Our outflow each month exceeds $5000, but the efforts we put forth to earn money seem thwarted on every side. Cecil gets sick, can’t sleep; we make decisions that limit what can be accomplished in a given day; contractors or their clients don’t decide on material in a timely manner; material doesn’t come in on schedule; the work doesn’t flow smoothly.
“It seems that our debts continually rise, with no break in sight. We bought a house and the cabinets and appliances to remodel it, but cannot afford to live there and fix it up. The expense of the house, and now the additional debts for the appliances and cabinets and other materials increases our load. We are now having to come up with living expenses where we have work to carry us through, and meanwhile the house sits empty. Earlier we bought land to begin making a life for ourselves ‘on the land,’ and we cannot use it or sell it. It has become a burden and a drain on us.
Yehuveh, please could we sell the land? Please? Can we have learned the needed lessons and can we gain enough from the land to enable us to be out of debt with the credit cards, please? I feel such a weight of financial burden.”
Suddenly Jessica’s heart cry became the desperate prayer of her whole being:
“I need more than income, Father. I need total deliverance! I need wisdom not to repeat these errors. I need strength to do what is right. I need goals and dreams that are reachable for me, realistic to my strength and age and desires. I feel trapped by the decisions that have brought us here, and that trap seems to enlarge with each passing month. I am in deep trouble. I do love You. I do seek You. Please, please help us. Please, please deliver us from this trouble.”
