The Oil of Gladness

What is Anointing?
        Scripturally, only
kings, priests and occasionally prophets were anointed. There is some discussion of this in Two Witnesses. Anointing involved Yehuveh appointing one of His priests or prophets to take oil and in solemn ceremony pour it upon the head of the one He designated. Moses anointed Aaron and his sons (Exodus 28-29); Samuel anointed Saul (1 Samuel 10:1), and later David (1 Samuel 16:13); Zadok anointed Solomon (1 Kings 1:39). Yehuveh “hath made us kings and priests.” Anyone who yields to Yehuveh’s call has opportunity to be anointed. Revelation 1:6.
Yehuveh designated a very specific combination of spices for the
anointing oil used in association with every part of His service. He told Moses: “Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense, And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.  And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto Me in the priest’s office. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto Me throughout your generations. Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.” Exodus 30:23-33.
Whatever this specific combination of spices produced must have had such an effect on the priests as to make them able to understand Yehuveh’s communication within the tent or temple.
This chemistry affected the minds and bodies of those thus anointed, enabling them to comprehend and use extraordinary information and wisdom. We have suffered an exceedingly great loss through these “many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim,” and without our anointed astronomer-priests. With heart-agonizing prayer I pray for the restitution of all these things. We need this awesome anointing. Hosea 3:4.

What Happens When We are Anointed?
        When Saul was
anointed, Elohim gave him another heart: and . . . the Spirit of Elohim came upon him, and he prophesied among them.” Yehuveh gives His anointed ones another heart, His Spirit, and words to speak to those around them. According to Isaiah 61:1-3, we are now anointed to a very specific assignment. What is It to Be Anointed? expands on the importance of our anointing. 1 Samuel 10:9-11.
